Dale's Raw Foods, founded by Dale Buchanan, is a Florida based raw foods producer.  They specialize in creating raw protein bars/powders, recovery powder, super foods, and trail mix.  Dale has been in the health and wellness field for over 25 years is also a fitness trainer and owner of Supreme Ultimate Fitness in Boca Raton Florida.
 
The company started when the demand for Dale’s homemade protein bars spread throughout his personal training clients.  From there Dale contracted out a company to make his recipes but ultimately built his own commercial kitchen where they now make all the products inhouse.

Products:

All the products are made from raw foods which means that they have not been cooked, processed, or refined.  The benefit and appeal of eating raw is that the foods are not stripped of their vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in the cooking process.
 
The protein in Dale’s Raw Foods comes from a blend of hemp, pea, and organic rice proteins.  They also offer a Paleo option that incorporates Sacha Inchi Protein - a highly digestible seed based protein source with all essential amino acids.
 
All their products are Non-GMO, 100% Gluten Free, 100% Plant Based Protein,100% RAW, 100% VEGAN and about 90% Organic.  They contain no whey, soy, dairy, fish/shellfish, preservatives, or artificial flavors.
 
There are many different flavors and options and you can find a product to suit your needs based on allergies or taste preferences as there are hypoallergenic options and varieties of sweeteners.

There are mostly positive online reviews for Dale’s Raw Foods with most people liking the protein bars.  They also have a lot of support from health foods bloggers and fitness enthusiasts.  There are some negative reviews about the consistency of the protein powder, something that people need to get used to when switching from whey powders to plant based ones.

Competitors and Alternatives:

There are many Paleo Protein bars hitting the market and Crossfit Gyms such as RxBar, EXO Bar, and Epic Bar.  You can also get Paleo approved protein powders from Formulx, SFH, and Primal Fuel.

Terrible customer service. Business did some sketchy things. Used to love the product. If you are looking for a Dale's replacement I recommend Rawr Organics (Rawr Bars). Good customer service, great quality bars and fits most dietary needs like GF, dairy free, high protein, organic etc.

What is the best replacement for Dales Protein Bars?

Hi everyone,
I'm another one who was a victim of Dale's. Who has a good replacement bar for his protein bars?
I'm going to try Papa Steves, and Aloha.
Any others?
I ate 1/day, and sometimes 2 bars so I'd like something affordable, too.

Hi. Saw your comment below about Rise bars and that's the only ones I've tried, so unfortunately don't know what else to suggest but if you ended up liking something would appreciate any recommendations you have as well. I liked the taste and texture of the Rise bars but didn't like how they are very oily on the outside. Apparently that's from the nut oils coming to the surface, which makes sense but Dales bars never had that issue. Strange. Still so aggravated with Dales, I ordered regularly for years and can't believe they just took people's money and disappeared. Not only rude and unethical but stupid...if he was able somehow to startup again, he pissed off and lost all the customers he could’ve kept.

company disappeared!

We have purchased from Dale's Raw Foods for a few years now. So, when the BOGO protein bar sale came up again in January of 2019, we placed another large order. Now, I have no product, and cannot reach them by phone, email, FB, Instagram, or Twitter. All their online accounts have vanished! Also, I used to rely on my Order History on the website for details, so I have no itemized order record--just the CC charge on our statement. Somehow, our CC company was able to reach DRF, who told the CC that we authorized the charge. That's not what is in dispute; it's the fact that we never received the paid-for product. All we want is our money back for non-receipt of goods sold!

I’m in the same situation. I reached out to them in March about the order I placed in January and was told to hang in there that I would be receiving my order and 2 months later I cannot locate the company. I will be calling my credit card company tomorrow and hope that I can get a refund. If you have any contact information or if they are working under another name I would appreciate any help.

I placed an order in January. I got confirmation email regarding my order that I will receive within 4-6 weeks. When I didn’t receive my order, I emailed them. I got same email that due to some major unexpected delays receiving in our raw materials, running around 8+ weeks. I emailed again few more times and got response for more delays. It is very frustrating. They charged on my card same day when I placed an order. Trying to figure it out how to get my money back

Followed up on 2/18/19 and got a reply same day from a Marissa Abbs. Reply: "Due to some major unexpected delays receiving in some of our raw materials... 10 week delay."

Followed up on 5/1/2019. No reply.

Today 5/11/19, I called and tried to access website. Neither is working. I am guessing they went out of business.

Does anyone know?

Same deal, same quotes almost word for word from Marissa

First ordered not filled 12/28/2018. Received daily emails JanuaryFebruary with repeats of health & food bar articles and continuance of “anniversary sale”, plus “notice” that it was at least 6-8 weeks for product to be (made &) shipped. Also was selling other products. I recently saw on a search that there were all of a sudden listings for his bars selling on other sites, which he said he would never do because of the short shelf of the bars (3 weeks not refrigerated (from date made). So, did he actually send merchandise to Amazon and the other sites listed on the search? If that was true search and not fabricated information, then he sold merchandise that was already paid for by someone else(everyone listed above and then some). There are many different fraudulent acts by this company. False advertising, theft, a ‘planned’ bankruptcy case, receiving money under false pretenses, and should not be selling merchandise that belonged to prepaid customers. I don’t know if mail fraud includes email, but their business was run through emails & online merchandise selling, with many fraudulent communications, conducted over state lines as well. I hope some law firm will look into this so that there will be more than just bankruptcy filings and he will loose his ability to start more personal businesses in the future!

Dale Buchanen is a fraud.

Like a lot of other people, I was scammed. I ordered during their BOGO offers in Dec of 2018 and also was a little concerned when I never received my order but kept getting the BOGO offers in my email. I emailed in January and got a response saying that the order would arrive in 12 weeks. In March, I emailed again but never received a response the second time. Now, website has disappeared and no more emails received. I am super disappointed and disgusted with them.

Out two orders

I ordered Dale bars regularly for many years since it was something my wife could eat that was safe for her (she has celiac disease). I knew that they were backlogged due to the long running bogo sale, but in the past I would email them and get my order sent when we were running low. I would line up an order every couple of months so we had a constant supply coming in. This time when I emailed them they didn't even respond. Two weeks later they were nowhere to be found. Ugh.
I'll see if I can get a refund on the two orders that never got filled. This is so disappointing.

Does anyone have a good replacement?
I like Rise Bars but not as a breakfast protein bar - very sad to lose these Dale's Bars.

Never received order

Same as other reviews ..order placed 12/31/18, emailed in Feb and told the same as others from Marissa “ Due to some major unexpected delays receiving in some of our raw materials, right now we are running around 8+ weeks out (from date order was placed) on BOGO orders so thank you again for hanging in there with us!! We are currently fulfilling orders from November 28th this week and November 29th- Dec 6th next week so please bear with us as we are still quite a ways out on your order placed Dec 30th at this time.“

And thought it was unusual for all the discounts and bogo back to back during this time when they were on such a significant backorder,. they new exactly what they we’re doing collecting all the money from promos and stringing customers along knowing exactly they weren’t going to fulfill them. My last response from them was early feb , 8 weeks brings us to April.. emailed april 8 received undeliverable.

I blame myself a little should of caught on sooner didn’t make sense all the promotions when you can’t get supplies.. lesson learned ..go with your gut .. life’s full of losers like Dale Buchanan.. credit card dispute filed

Just another one that was robbed

I knew it took a long time for these bars to ship, so I wasn't overly concerned. But, I started to realize that it had been a REALLY long time, so I went back to check, and it has been over 3 months with absolutely no communication, and yes they charged me right away. So add me to the list of people who were robbed. I hope my credit card will reverse the charge.

I believe many of us have had luck getting refunds through our credit card companies. I hope it works for you as well. I am not sure how successful legal action is in cases like this for consumers or if it is worth the effort...

So disapointed

Same story as everyone else. My last order was on 1/31 and off course I never received it. I had a previous order early December that took forever to receive. Marissa kept mentioning a problem in suppliers and it did not make any sense as they kept sending more promotions. I have been a Dale customer for many years and I am extremely disappointed that I never received any information about what happened and that they took my money. I always was really happy with the product.
I also use the Papa Steve Bars as an alternative.

Same situation, ordered 1/7/19, was told multiple times there was a sourcing problem, never received my order. I filed with the South FL BBB and will request a refund through my credit card. They knew what they were doing, very greedy, dishonest, and criminal.

Yup me too! I called cc company tonight and got a refund. They knew exactly what they were doing by extending the bogo offers which I thought was unusual. Karma will get them.

Never received order or refund. Scammed!!

I came upon this page looking for answers. I too was a regular customer for about 3 years. Best bars I have found so far. I placed an order in early January 2019. After waiting 30 days I contacted customer service. I promptly received an email stating they were having trouble sourcing ingredients. I got the same response on two additional communications over the following months. They did let me know that they were filling orders and from which calendar days. Yesterday I was about to contact them to cancel my order and request a refund. I just discovered that they have closed. I am now disputing the charge through my credit card company. Pretty shocking that a seemly reputable company handled a closure this way and, unless they have plans to provide refunds, stole money from dedicated customers.

I would recommend disputing the charges if you used a credit card (don't know about other forms of payment). My credit card refunded me the amount immediately as they "investigate" and see if the company disputes it - but clearly Dale's has disappeared so I highly doubt that would happen. I had to provide any documentation I could, so I wrote a letter explaining the situation as well as providing a copy of the emails that I exchanged with Dale's, which were the same as people are mentioning here (trouble with ingredients, promising to fulfill the order, etc.)

Same thing happened to me. They were responding for a while and told me my order would be sent out and I’ve never received anything. I placed my order in December. What was even more disturbing was that they had BOGO deals going on a few weeks ago. My question is how in the heck can you do BOGO’s when you have fulfilled the order you received in December and it’s April.

Dales Raw food HORRIBLE SERVICE. Took my money and closed shop

I have been a huge supporter for the past five yrs. I order about 50 boxes per yr. NOT even kidding. Back in Jan I placed an order never received it but was charged back on Jan 26th. I have emailed called and left messages back in March. Recently two days ago I tried to reach out again to find that their phone number is out of service. THIS IS VERY DISTURBING FOR THEM TO CLOSE SHOP AND TO TOP IT OFF TOOK CUSTOMERS MONEY. But I will be sure to take action. I will also start a group of others who were taken by Dales Raw Food, company out in Boca FL
