7 Ways to Save Money on the Paleo Diet
April 1, 2018
One of the only negative drawbacks of the Paleo Diet is that it can be hard on your food budget.  When you cut out shelf stable grain/cereal staples from your diet your new fresh diet inevitably requires more trips to the market.

While great for your health this can have an adverse affect on your budget if not done right.  We’re here to share with you a few tips and tricks on how to avoid super market traps, get your fresh foods cheaper, and simple hacks for thriving on Paleo.

1. Buy in Bulk -  While the Paleo diet does favor fresh produce there are still plenty of daily use products that can be purchased in bulk.  Things like Coconut and Olive oil can definitely be bought in large amounts.

2. Smart Organics -  Familiarize yourself with the dirty dozen/clean 15 and make sure that if those items are on your list they will be organic.  However you can save a lot of money by prioritizing your organic purchases since some conventionally grown items are safer such as: Avocado, Onion, and Mango.

3. Professional Meal Plan - investing in a proper Paleo meal plan has an unbelievable amount of time and money saving benefits.  Imagine having an entire week's worth of meals pre-planned, condensed to only a few cooking days, and organized in a itemized shopping list.

With the guess work taken out of, “what’s for dinner?” you can hit the grocery store in less time and avoid splurge purchases.  This is perfect for busy parents, professionals or those new to Paleo. Check out our recommended meal plan service.

4. Join a CSA -  A community supported agriculture subscription is great for so many reasons.  Not only does it support local farmers but you get a variety of fresh and seasonal produce delivered right to your door.  You also get to try foods you might not have otherwise.  And best of all it can save you money.

5. Meat Share - You can save a lot of money by going in on a meat share with friends or neighbors.  Together you can purchase a whole animal directly from a farm and divide it up amongst yourselves.

6. Eat Organs - Eating organs meats is a huge part of the Paleo diet as they are incredibly nutrient dense and full of many benefits.  They are also less desirable and come at a great value; you can also explore tougher cuts of meat for extra savings.  These take longer to cook but can yield large and delicious meals.

7. Shop Online - These days you can find a ton of good deals online through many specialty web markets.  Thrive Market is a 100% paleo approved ecommerce platform that lets you buy all your favorite goods at huge savings.  Same concept as costco except entirely online; you buy a yearly membership and the company uses its purchasing power to negotiate better deals on Paleo goods.
