About Doc Parsley’s Sleep Cocktail
Doc Parsley’s Sleep Cocktail is an all natural sleep aid meant to enhance and prolong deep sleep.  Created by Kirk Parsley, MD and former Navy Seal, the supplement is meant to replenish critical nutrients and combat stress induced sleep disruptors.

His research and many other existing studies show how important restful sleep is to all our bodies systems.  It is also known that poor or insufficient sleep can lead to a host of complications ranging from poor physical and mental performace to more long term illnesses.

Product and Ingredients:

The Sleep Cocktail is carefully formulated to avoid the negative side effects of many common sleep aids.  It should not make you groggy or drowsy and is calibrated for daily use, if you need it.

It is made from the following ingredients:
  • L-Trytophan
  • GABA (as phGABA)
  • 5-Hydroxytrytophan
  • Melatonin
  • Xylitol
  • Citric Acid
  • Natural Flavors
  • Stevia 80% Glycosides
  • Natural Colors.
Per packet it contains only 5 calories.  The ingredients in the supplement are all natural and thus do not force or trick your body into sleep, it is meant simply to replenish the nutrients, such as Vitamin D3 and Magnesium, necessary for your body to produce the melatonin hormone.

Depending on how severe your sleep deprivation is Doc Parsley recommends taking the Sleep Cocktail every night.

Remember that the benefits of healthy sleep are numerous and it can:
  • optimize physical and mental performance
  • enhance mood
  • improve communication
  • improve learning
  • help with fat loss
  • reduces anxiety
  • help balance blood sugar

The Sleep Cocktail is endorsed by Robb Wolf one of the leading voices in the Paleo movement, as well as other prominent fitness and health bloggers.  Many users reported experiencing a deeper sleep without feeling like they’ve been completely knocked out - a common concern of parents needing to wake up for young children's’ needs.

As always if you have concerns or questions about how the sleep cocktail will react with any other medication you may be taking consult your doctor first.  Sleep aids also affect everyone differently so you may have to experiment with dosages before you experience desired results.

Sometimes Somewhat Useful

I've had chronic insomnia for years. I'm always looking for something that will help, other than pharmaceuticals that cause people to eat and drive in their sleep. When I'm desperate I take half a xanax or an antihistamine, but if I take those things twice in a row they don't work the second night. Name the natural supplement (melatonin, kava, 5-HTP, phosphatydilserine, GABA, etc.), I've tried it. I found Doc Parsley's Sleep Cocktail at Robb Wolf's website. Because I respect Robb I gave it a try. My experience has been mixed.

You drink the powder in 8 oz. of water half an hour before bed. First of all, it tastes bad (I tried both flavors) and is sweetened with stevia, but I understand that they're trying to mask the taste of the underlying ingredients which taste even worse. Let's just say that the taste is tolerable. (There is now a capsule you can take instead. I don't know how much water you have to drink with it. I haven't tried it so I can't speak to its efficacy or side effects.) With the powder that you mix with water, it takes me at least an hour to feel sleepy, rather than the half hour they recommend.

Although they claim it won't happen, when I drink this stuff I usually wake up to urinate about four hours into the night and then can't fall asleep again. 8 oz. of warm water before bed is a sure-fire way to be awake in the middle of the night and is the reason that "sleepy" teas like chamomile never worked for me.

Most unfortunately, sometimes the product does not work at all. Once I was awake until 6 a.m. Usually it's somewhere in the middle: more sleep than I would have gotten without it, but still not enough.

Once in a while it really works. I estimate that maybe a quarter of the time I get a full night's sleep and wake up feeling fantastic. I do credit the product with this good night's sleep. Without it, I NEVER sleep through the night, no matter what.

I keep a box on hand and use it once in a while. Everyone's different, so your experience may be better than mine. I suggest purchasing their inexpensive sample and giving it a try. It's NOT fake. It DOES have value, but not as much as I personally hoped.
