About Foam Glow 5k Run
The Foam Glow Run is a fun 5k race that focuses more on having a good time with friends than competitive running.  As the name suggests runners will be exposed to glowing foam and black light elements throughout the course.

The race is designed to cater to all levels of physical fitness, from experienced distance runners to casual walkers.  The idea is to simply have fun and racers will start wearing a white shirt and finish a multi colored art piece.

How Does it Work?

The way Foam Glow courses are setup is that every so often racers reach a glow zone with a dedicated color, by running through here you get covered with their 100% natural and non-toxic foam.

After you get doused with all the colors and finish the race, you will be treated to a great after party featuring music, food and black lights to show off your colors.

Racers also have the option of competing individually or as part of a team where you would have a team name and race together.  All registrants will receive a Foam Glow race shirt, tattoo, and sponsor swag.

The race is very family friendly and even supports children running with their parents.  Kids 5 and under get to race for free, unfortunately pets are not allowed.

They say that the foam should wash off from most clothes but at the same time recommend wearing items that you don't mind getting glowed. They also recommend bringing towels for the ride home.

The cost of the run varies from $20 to $40 depending on how early you register.

Customer Service:

All racers are required to pick up their pre-race packets at designated areas, if you pick up on race day there is a 5 dollar fee.  Once you register for an event keep in mind that there will be no refunds issued.  However you can transfer your ticket to another runner provided you do so a week in advance of the race.

If you have any questions you can contact a rep at service@foamglow.net or by phone at 877-228-4881.

Online Reviews/Complaints:

The reviews for these races are mostly positive.  As long as you understand what you’re signing up for you should have a good time.  This is not a competitive race, it is open to all age groups, and you will get covered with foam colors.

Competitors and Alternatives:

Themed runs and charity runs are taking on wild new iterations, with everything from color runs to zombie runs now available.  Whichever race you choose just research the organization to make sure that if it is for charity that they actually donate, and that the company can handle the logistics of a race.

Some other popular mud/fun races include Rugged Maniac, Spartan Race, and the Epic Series Race.

It was amazing!!

Usually the runs I attend cost a lot, I managed to sign up during free registration which took a huge chunk out of the total cost to run. The event was incredible! The Dj was fantastic and kept us excited and pumped up to run. There were so many people but they managed to get the line moving pretty quickly to begin the run. They had water available and the course was well set up. The after party was the best part! Everyone was covered in liquid glow and foam and everyone was dancing and just having a blast. I will absolutely be returning and checking out some other events they host (:

Terrible

To start the race, we had to wait for 45 minutes before we eventually gave up on going through the start, and we just cut the barrier. The actual race was just running around a parking lot, and the foam and black lights were extremely disappointing. There was absolutely no staff at all, and anyone who was doing anything were just random people attempting to calm the chaos. The event was clearly oversold, as there were at least 5,000 people there. There was also a wait to receive your medal in the end, that took another 45 minutes to receive. Overall the event was horrible so please do not waste your time, money, and effort on this run.

Save your money!

I mean, I had fun with my friend during the pre-party and race. There needs to be improvements to make it a better experience.

1.) There is only one time and location available for packet pickup. It's during when school and work hours are happening. And if you can't make that time, you have to pay an extra $5 on race day to pick up your packet. Why..?

2.) There were no actual colors on the foam! My understanding was that we would get sprayed with colored foam, which would glow under black light. But nope.

3.) Maybe choose a venue next time that does not charge $10 parking.

4.) I understand that this is a fun run, but small snacks and purified water would have been appreciated. Also no need to get snotty and make comments from volunteers such as "well we're in a barn so that's why you're getting hose water."

5.) Have an area where we can wash off our shoes...and if there was an area, have signs where we could see them.

6.) There were no bag checks and that was concerning for me.

SCAM

I went there with my family expecting to do 5k run with supposedly canoes with be spraying you with color while you run. there was none , they only thing the had was a bunch of kids in a unsafe box spraying foam with no color on it the dj in the stage were throwing green paint on the crowd . one volunteer on the phone couldn't wait to go home no water and there was really no run the party started around 6:30 pm everyone at the party was wet but no paint on them like the website promise . Un safe location for kids only two Miami Dade police officers who were all the way in the front where they should have been by the stage and the bathroom where there was a lot of underage girls . this is a total scam all these races should get banned.
Please people stop wasting money on people who are taking our hard working money .

Very poorly run and very poor customer service.

I do many road races, OCR events, and Triathlons. This was the most poorly run event I have ever been to. If it was something on our end where we got sick, did not show up or something that is on us but for you to tell me that we lost about 3 hours of our lives on top of being out now $50 which consists of $20 a person x2 so $40 and $10 to get in the gate not including my gas and time. This is your fault on poor planning and your event staff once confronted looked at us with a blank stare and just told us to email you and never even said sorry that this happened. We could have planned differently if your website had more instructions on how the process works. We assumed like every event I do that we need our phones to prove registration and a ID to prove who we are. Then not having a bag check we had to walk all the way back to our car to put our things away and the parking that was setup was right at 1/2 mile away that I tracked on my Garmin GPS watch. So in all 1/2 mile to register, 1/2 back to the car and then 1/2 mile back to the event where we were then told we could not race anymore.

Most disorganized 5K I’ve ever participated in

I’ve participated in plenty of 5k’s with my friends. Usually it’s some sort of charity or cause or community event. We were very excited about the Foam Glow Atlanta 5K. I don’t know that any of us realized that “fun” translated into skeleton crew of volunteers and staff, zero security or assistance on the course, zero snacks-drinks-stations on the course zero lighting and NO FINISH LINE!

The race was meant to start at 730 with late registration starting at 530. No vendors showed. No free stuff. No snacks or stretch time with the DJ or pre-walk prep walk. At 715 we started lining up on our own. At 730 the registration line was wrapped around the parking lot. We were lined up to race… waited… and waited... and waited… untl everyone starting chanting START THE RACE at 745. The races started at 755. Needless to say we were all a little grumpy and ready to move!

Then we took a long walk in the dark, through 4 "WHITE" foam stations (no color), through a lakeside camp ground in the woods with unlighted cones with holes and uneven cement. Neither the walkers nor the runners could make out what was in front of them unless someone had an iPhone. Several people wiped-out. One lady even fell on her face and broke her nose. It took EMTs 20 minutes to get to her because someone had to call 911…because, again, there was no staff on the course and we are in the woods!

Then, we get to the end… and there is NO FINISH LINE! No one says congrats… here’s some water and, I don’t know, a towel, a pat on the sweaty back? Something!? Nope. You just wandered back into the parking lot where the DJ is now full blast spraying people with white foam and yellow neon liquid that only glows under the black-light. Oh.. we had a vendor in the back corner selling hot dogs and beer for $5 a pop.

There are no words for how much the organization of this event sucked. We wont be attending again. I wish there was some way to get our money back :(

Dangerous and Unorganized

I was astounded at how disorganized this event was. We thankfully arrived very early for registration but still waited in long lines. There was NO food or drinks available prior to the race (or afterward). It started 20 minutes late with NO explanation. No clock was showing, so unless you tracked on your phone, you had no idea what time you started (or finished!). The finish line was nonexistent...you came up to the DJ area again and realized "Oh, that was it?" They advertised water stations and COLOR? There was NO water available along the course and I was as clean/white as when I started the race (they said you'd be tiedyed by the end). The water at the end of the course (I was in the first heat, so there was still water when I finished) were paper cups filled with a HOSE! The path was so dark, there were times I was literally running blindly through the woods. The few black lights they had along the course were misdirected, so completely blinded runners as they passed (you had to put your hand up to sheild your eyes). I'm SURE there had to be injuries!
We did not stay for the afterparty because we were all so thirsty and hungry. The only think I heard them advertise was alcohol for sale. Seriously?
I would NOT recommend signing up for this event!!!

Rachel, I 100% agree! There was water? We were in the 2nd heat, but walking, never did a drop touch my parched throat... We had really been looking forward to a fun group activity. We were so disappointed. So much wasted potential. Yes, there were beer and hot dogs in the back corner. $5 each.

Lame

This event was extremely subpar and a waste of money. The only saving grace is that I was with a friend I haven't seen in 18 years and we were able to walk and catch up with each other.

Let me begin by saying the lines at registration moved incredibly slow. I'm glad we arrived early! Also, they were still setting up portapotties. Those should've already been in place.

The event didn't start on time, and no explanation was given. People started chanting "start the race" if that tells you how late it was. 20 minutes to be exact.

The foam stations seemed like a car wash, nothing was "spraying".....it was dripping down and at some places, only one of the two foam creators were working properly. There wasn't enough light on the course and we passed one water station that wasn't even open. As in, the water was there, but the cups were still boxed and sitting on the ground. The lighting I mentioned, or lack thereof, seemed like a true safety concern. I was going to run intervals and decided to walk it because I can't afford a broken/rolled ankle. We did see a lady escorted off the course with a busted nose. I can only assume she fell in the dark. The other danger was the out and back feel of the course. Walkers didn't realize to stay to the left and then the fast folks coming back towards us were having to dodge the people taking up both lanes on the road. That could've been reviewed in our 20 minute wait time at the start.

The after party was lame as well. The foam was at least blowing out of cannons, but the DJ took a break as we were finishing, so we left. No food in sight, no vendors, no anything.

This event won't be around long. Don't worry about me signing up again. I know lots of people feel the same way. Avoid it like the plague, folks!!!

Horrible

Waste of money! You better bring bottles of water because they have no water stations along the way. The foam is not glowing its just normal foam. Parts of the race were so dark ppl had to use the light on their phone just so they didn't run off the road. When we finally made it to the end we were greeted by a table full of empty water cups. Everyone was so thirsty that when they saw no water at the end I watched tons of people turn around and walk straight to there car and leave. I can't tell you anything about the after party bc we left to find something to drink. We had to drive an hour and 45 minutes to get there to run in the dark and practically dehydrate. It was a waste of my time and money

Stay home and have a bubble bath

It's nothing. You get a shirt and walk in the dark. Nothing is provided. We saw two, foam stations and you walk through coloured foam. Nothing is sprayed on you! Don't worry about getting wet basically you just walk. It's dangerous as it's in the dark.

Don't waste your time

This race was not what I expected.. there was only two foam station that had no color....they ran out of the shirts in my size I ordered and had to take a smaller size down and when I asked for my daughter friend to trade her shirt from Medium to small they said they can only go what was ordered on the passes... It made no sense since they gave me a different size for my shirt since the ran out of my original size but could make a simple, shirt switch. The water station sucked it was hot water that I believe they pours from the water hose... the track was unsafe not much lighting and many people where at risk to getting hurt... the after party sucked too...and there was no direction on how to exit the area and many people were confused .... don't waste your time and money I could been doing something better that this 5k run.... I would have had more fun going to my local gym than this event... I say save your money and when Color me RAD comes to your town do that 5 k instead because that what you call a real 5k run and deliver exactly what they promise. #### foamglowsucks!####

OF COURSE NOT! TRIED CONTACTING BUT THEY KEEP SENDING ME THE SAME FAQ INFO. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! VERY DISAPPOINTING! this was supposed to be my newly wed husband and I first race event together and we looked forward to it all year!! They switched my event with out telling me and wont change it or refund. I followed instructions on how to change event and when I clicked "my events" signed in and then it said -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

disappointed

Lots of fun at the pre-party and after party but highly disappointed in the running portion. Although the rain and mud is out of the control of event coordinators the placing of working (and mostly non working ????) foam stations are. Having the foam stations actually Up and running to maintain the foam glow event rather than a mud 5k would have been more fun and motivating....
The placement of 1 out of 2 working foam stations was ankle deep in mud caused by the foam/water. As well the running path had holes (man made), uneven areas and mounds of dirt with no clear markings. The lady in front of me tripped twice in 2 minutes because of this! A cone or small light in the more dangerous areas could have prevented her injuries and those of other participants. This was in the control of the organizing committee. I feel if the venue were to change I may go back. But the organizers really do need to look into the safety of the course they set up. It is the complete dark after all...
*Would I do it again? Not at this venue. I would cautiously re register at another venue.*

Dangerous and should be fined

The 10/15 San Jose Foam glow was extremely dangerous.

-someone had to be taken by ambulance, I saw several others being treated in a tent. Fire/police/ambulances were called to help with people's injuries.
-one of the foam stops broke and the foam became an electrocution risk (2 police officers ushered runners through a clear path)
-the course was unlit through a fairgrounds, but extremely uneven and had debris (stumps and logs) which cause runners to stumble

Danger aside, we went to have fun and the promise of foam but got neither. The foam is pretty underwhelming, it really just feels gross and makes your shoes soggy. The after party just looked gross, don't get me wrong, I like a bubble bath every once in a while, turns out I don't like sharing a foam bath with strangers :)

I am al m/26, and I went with three friends. You know it's a bad run when most of it we were worried kids would trip in the foam pit and get lost in the foam and trampled, it's seriously that ghetto!

Scam

This race was advertised at a store that was being demolished. They knew well in advance that the race would not occur on that race day (Site demolition was announced 6 months ago). We registered 5 people in the event believing it was on a Saturday. The race day was moved to a Sunday and they will not refund out money. They only reply with copied and pasted text from their website. No consideration for Religion. Also, deceiving to advertise and promote a race that is not going to happen.

Registered for the same race and am having the same issue. They change the date of the event to a day that I am unable to attend and refuse to give a refund. I am now trying to dispute the charge through my credit card company.

Same thing happened to me, I had to work really hard in order to get the date of the original event off from work (as I work nights), they changed it with little to no notice and I am now unable to attend the event because I cannot get anyone to cover my shift in time and they are refusing to give me a refund. It isn't even the same day of the week. This is so ridiculously unfair!

Scam

2016 San Antonio 6 Flags Fiesta tx, sep 9th:

I registered 4 people including myself with a 20$ early registration fee, 40$ PROCESSING fee, so it ended up being 117$ plus 10$ parking(in which we waited 2 hours afterwards to get out) with a 5$ pickup fee per shirt?? (also had paid 5$ beforehand for a 2xl shirt in which they "ran out of shirts" depending which stall you went to). Finally got to the race after waiting in line for about an hour and a half just to be dissapointed by the lack of paint or blacklights. In fact, there was NO PAINT AT ALL. Just foam stations that spit out smelly dish soap. There were 3 stations but only 2 worked throughout the 5k. Water bottles were tiny, hot, and given near the end of the race, by then people had already stopped by vending machines to get some drinks. Then we got to the zig zag part in a massive parking lot that led to a pathetic ending and an afterparty no one could reach. Then of course the traffic getting out was horrible.

Paid a ton of money to wait, pay more money, and wait some more. This was a whole bunch of false advertising and ripping people off with glow sticks.

You've been warned.

Fraud

Watch out for these guys- I purchased for this race and they registered me for a different one. They charged twice- first one VIP prices- which was what I signed up for but not the blacklight run they kept saying I did, second charge for the foamglow at regular pricing. Refused to refund either charge- refused to just move one charge over to the correct race, extremely poor customer service. It's a bait and switch. I never attended a blacklight run, never received any goods or product for $70.00 + which is flat our fraud.
