About My Pet Chicken
My Pet Chicken provides people with everything they need to start raising chickens including free guides, a variety of chicken breeds, and chicken supplies. The founder wanted to make it easy and accessible for other prospective chicken owners to start raising chickens.

Products:

The founder fell in love with raising chickens since she was in the third grade. Ever since then, she spent a lot of time learning how to care of chickens mainly as pets and for their eggs only, not for raising them for meat.

Chickens provide a variety of benefits including the following:
  • Provide great tasting organic nutritious eggs
  • Help keep a healthy lawn without chemicals because they eat garden pests and turn it into a fertilizer
  • Help reduce food waste because chickens eat almost everything
My Pet Chicken’s site provides all of the information you need to raise chickens in your backyard including how to care of them, which ones are the best breeds for you, and where to get them.

Chickens are very low maintenance and owners can save chickens from factory farm life. Chickens that are allowed to roam freely and eat grass lay eggs that are higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, higher in Vitamin E, and are lower in cholesterol than store-bought eggs.
Chickens are social birds and they do not do well on their own, so it is important to have a minimum of two.

Generally, two hens per family member should cover your egg needs, or three if your family really loves eggs. Your home’s weather and egg production are important to consider when choosing your chicken breed. My Pet Chicken’s free ebook will guide you on how to choose which breed is best among the 400 varieties of chicken that are available.

The site sells a variety of chicken coups that can house a few to many chickens depending on the owners’ preferences. People can choose from a variety of breeds including heritage breeds, Easter eggers, and rare breeds.

Cost:

Chicken coups: $299 to $10,000
Day old baby chicks: $3.25 to $5.00
Fertile hatching eggs: $2.95 to $185.00
Chick packs: $95.00 to $175.00
Chicken supplies: $0.35 to $1,999.99

SELLING LIVE ANIMALS THRU THE MAIL IS CRUEL

Today I found a box of 5 dead baby chicks in an obscure location in Randalls Island Park. They were in the original open shipping box; one chick was put in an avocado skin. Were they left there to die or were they dead and put there? It does not really matter. They were very adorable and soft and may be some one thought they would be cute for Easter. Apparently anyone can order these chicks through the mail, not take care of them and let them die. Or they can arrive in the mail dead. Their website warns not to have children nearby when you open the package in case the chicks are dead.

I find the whole concept of selling baby chicks in the mail to be irresponsible. They are animals; not a disposable commodity.
